The Perfect Sunday Stroll🐶

               Starbucks at Antrim Lough

My Perfect Idea of a Sunday Morning

On Sunday morning, I sprung from my bed to search out the window to find the leaves blustering with the wind. Storm Ashley had arrived! The weather didn't halt us so we set off for our Sunday walk at Antrim Lough. Our first stop was Starbucks for a coffee, followed by a short drive to the lough.

Coffee

Close by to the lough is a drive-through Starbucks, so Gus and I met up with his furry companions and made our way over to order. I opted for a white chocolate mocha with caramel syrup - something which I had never tried before but it certainly exceeded my expectations. It was the perfect combination of a creamy velvety beverage with my daily dose of coffee, I truly savoured every sip of this indulgent drink. Starbucks coffees are both visually appealing and a treat for the taste buds. When it was time to pay at the window, things got a bit hectic as Gus spotted his pot of cream, also known as a 'puppacino', and tried to leap through the car window in excitement. We received the goods and headed over to the lough to taste test. Gus, Skye and Patch each got a puppacino and truly 'savoured every sip.'

Scenery

The scenery surrounding the lough is what attracts many visitors to the location. On the left side of the lough, a shoreline path can be found, whilst the right side features a forest trail, making it a dog and family friendly area. It serves as a community hub where families can gather to chat about their pets and more whilst their children run wild in the play park. Ducks and other wildlife roam freely by the water, creating opportunities for visitors to bring along a loaf of bread to feed them. In the summer months, the lough serves a different purpose for families. When the sun shines, boats line the dock, with paddleboarders and jet-ski users socialising in the waves, creating memories to cherish forever.

Activity

Dog walking beautifully combines physical activity with social interaction. As we strolled around the lough at a leisurely pace, it encouraged easy flow of conversation, allowing us to share stories and catch up. These exchanges, along with the occasional stop to chat with other dog owners, created memorable moments. The presence of having Gus, Skye and Patch with us brought joy and spontaneity, encouraging playfulness whilst helping to 'get the steps in'. Ultimately dog walking transforms a simple exercise routine into a lively social experience that enhances both our mental and physical well-being. So grab your dog and head out to explore the great outdoors!

Even the treacherous gale-force winds emerging from 'Storm Ashley' did not halt our Sunday traditions, making it truly a sip to savour!
